A very short, accessible book on spiritual gifts. I don't recall reading many other books like this on spiritual gifts. I usually have studied them from commentaries or systematic theology books. Thus, I feel like this book is needed. It would be a book I would give to any church goer that wanted to learn more.
I would consider myself a "soft cessationist" and it seems that is what Schreiner is too (he calls it nuanced cessationism). I found it interesting that he explained that he used to be a continuationist and then over time became a cessationist. Perhaps that explains his charitableness as he handles the topic. I have read plenty of material on the gifts where the author is less that kind and very dogmatic.
I am nuts about books. I read on all kinds of topics. I attempt to review each book I read for the sake of my own enrichment as well as conversation starters with others.
You never know what you will find in an attic! Usually there is a hodgepodge of things buried under dust.
Most of what is included here are notes to myself. The majority of folks will not find interest in these posts.
