Enjoyable book, but not what I expected. I was well over half way through the book before Paul Kriwaczek began to officially talk about the history of Babylon. Because the book put's as its title "Babylon," I expected more Babylonian history that what was in this book. This is perhaps not the author's fault because much of Babylon's history is shrouded in mystery. And, the book was thoroughly interesting and worth reading. Paul does spend a good deal of time on Assyria because of how it related to Babylon.
Kriwaczek doesn't do footnotes proper, but he does further reading and bibliographic notes at the end.
I am nuts about books. I read on all kinds of topics. I attempt to review each book I read for the sake of my own enrichment as well as conversation starters with others.
You never know what you will find in an attic! Usually there is a hodgepodge of things buried under dust.
Most of what is included here are notes to myself. The majority of folks will not find interest in these posts.
