Open Visual Studio Code and press:
command+shift+p
Type the following
Shell Command: Install 'code' command in PATH
It will auto complete for you and you should not have to type the whole thing. Restart whatever terminal you are using and then you can type
code <filename>
to launch any file in Visual Studio Code. If you just want to open it without opening a file, just type "code" without the filename.
