Prayer for the Church: Pursuing Humility

July 31, 2020

The beginning of Ephesians 4 mentions many practical things for the church to pursue, and today I would like to look at one of them - humility. Here is the command concerning this from Ephesians 4. I have removed the other virtues mentioned so as just to focus on this one:

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; (Ephesians 4:1–2a NIV84).

And a prayer:

Lord Jesus, pride so quickly creeps into our hearts as a church. Then it begins to cause a rottenness among us. May we search our own individual heart concerning this. We like to think of other people's problems, and we don't like to think of ourselves as proud. Today may we endeavor to walk worthy of our calling we have received by cultivating humility!

I am nuts about books. I read on all kinds of topics. I attempt to review each book I read for the sake of my own enrichment as well as conversation starters with others.
