Prayer for the Church: Seeing Jesus as its Leader

Churches have pastors / elders / overseers which lead them. These serve as under-shepherds to Jesus. The Father appointed Jesus to be the leader of the church:

And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, ²³ which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way. Ephesians 1:22-23 NIV

Do we think of Jesus as a distant and lax leader of our church?

Lord Jesus, help our local church to have a growing appreciation of your personal, intentional leadership of us. May this reality cultivate a deeper heart of worship in us, bring a contentment for what circumstances our church is navigating through, and a growing trust for the direction you are taking our church. May it give us peace, rest and hope.
