The English reformer and martyr John Bradford, who was burned at the stake in 1555 during the reign of Queen Mary, once posed a provocative, thoughtful question:
“If this universe with all its canyons, seas, skies, beauties and infinities and immensities – if this nature is what God gives to His enemies – what kind of world is he going to give to his friends?”
